V for Vendetta (2006) - James McTeigue
The Wachowski brothers' first assistant director, James McTeigue, is in final talks with Warner Bros. to make his helming debut on the adaptation of Alan Moore's graphic novel V for Vendetta. According to Variety, the Wachowskis, creators of "The Matrix" trilogy, will produce with Warners-based producer Joel Silver.
A powerful story about loss of freedom and individuality, V for Vendetta takes place in a totalitarian England following a devastating war that changed the face of the planet. In a world without political freedom, personal freedom and precious little faith in anything comes a mysterious man in a white porcelain mask who fights political oppressors through terrorism and seemingly absurd acts. It's a gripping tale of the blurred lines between ideological good and evil.
McTeigue, who recently wrapped work his work on Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, has also worked on Street Fighter.

The Wachowski Brothers and Joel Silver, the creators and producer of the revolutionary, $1.6 billion-grossing "Matrix" trilogy, will unleash the action thriller V For Vendetta for Silver Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures, with Natalie Portman ("Star Wars: Episodes I-III," "Closer," "Garden State") set to star.
Superhero Hype! has your first look at a teaser image from the film, which you can view in full here.
"Natalie Portman is one of the most gifted actresses working today, and we're thrilled that she is bringing her extraordinary talents and presence to this film," Silver said.
Set in the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta stars Portman as a young woman who becomes the unlikely ally of a mysterious revolutionary.
"With 'V For Vendetta,' the Wachowski Brothers have created an uncompromising vision of the future driven by a totally original superhero," said Silver.
The screenplay by Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski is based on the acclaimed graphic novel "V For Vendetta" by author Alan Moore ("The Watchmen," "Swamp Thing") and illustrator David Lloyd. Originally collected by DC Comics as a ten-part series in 1988, "V For Vendetta" has been praised for its vision, potency and eloquence. Moore is widely considered to be one of the finest comic writers of all time, and has been credited with single-handedly expanding the potential of the comic book medium with his work.
Produced by Joel Silver, Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski, V For Vendetta will be directed by James McTeigue, who served as the First Assistant Director on the "Matrix" trilogy.
V For Vendetta will be filmed on location in Berlin beginning in early March and will be released in the Fall of 2005 by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Mais notícias sobre o projecto:

MyMovies.net attended a press conference on Friday in Berlin for the start of production of Warner Bros.' V For Vendetta. Stars James Purefoy and Natalie Portman, as well as director James McTeigue and producer Joel Silver, were on-hand to discuss the Wachowski brothers' adaptation of the Alan Moore graphic novel. Here's a few clips:
But what can we expect visually from a film that's based on images already burned into fans minds courtesy of David Lloyd's stunning artwork. Well director James McTeigue explained he intends to use Lloyd's graphics as "leaping off points" and wants to give London a "neo–futuristic" look that will compliment the dark tone of the script.
Will Moore himself be involved? Well apparently Larry Wachowski has spoken with him and the hope is that "V For Vendetta's" co–creator will take a more hands on role when the production moves to the UK. But one things for sure – "V For Vendetta" is a one shot deal and there will be no sequel as Silver confirmed, saying "This is it, it doesn't go past this."
Stephen Rae (Interview With the Vampire, The Crying Game) has joined Natalie Portman and James Purefoy in the action thriller V For Vendetta, which has launched production in Berlin, Germany.
Produced by Joel Silver, Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski, V For Vendetta is directed by James McTeigue, who served as the First Assistant Director on the Wachowski brothers' "Matrix" trilogy.
Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey (Portman) who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked vigilante (Purefoy) known only as "V." Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks and takes over the government-controlled airwaves, urging his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V's mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself -- and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plot to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption.

A UK-German co-production between Warner Bros. Productions Ltd. and Funfte Babelsberg Film GmbH, V For Vendetta will be filmed on location in Berlin and London. V For Vendetta is supported by the local subsidy fund Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.
V For Vendetta will be released on November 4, 2005, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
