Spielberg and Universal Begin Plotting 'Jurassic Park 4'

Joe Johnston é bem melhor que muitos outros realizadores que passam a vida a ter grandes orçamentos. De todos os filmes que fez, não há um diga que posso afirmar que é mau. O mesmo não posso dizer de tantos outros.
E achei bastante superior o 3º ao 2º. O 3º não tem pretensão de ser mais do que é, um filme de aventuras com dinossauros do inicio ao fim. O 2º tenta ser muita coisa ao mesmo tempo e na minha opinião perde-se..

Sometime last year, director Joe Johnson caught up with AICN on the set of his upcoming remake of The Wolfman and chatted with them about the possibilities of Jurassic Park IV. Here's what the maestro had to say:
There is a great story for the fourth one that I would be interested in getting involved with and it's nothing like the first three. It sort of takes the franchise off in a completely different direction, which is the only way I would want to get involved.

When asked if they would be going back to an island setting, Joe scoffed, saying:
We've done that and it's been done three times. Why would anybody go back to that island? It was hard enough to figure out the second and third reason for them to go, but it would take it off in a whole other trilogy basically, but when it gets to that level it's sort of about studios and Steven's thing and who knows. I think we are at that point where we are due for another one if we are going to do it. They had what four years between them? 1992... 1996 or 1997, and then 2001, so we are past due. I don't know, but we will see.

Jurassic Park IV doesn't currently have a set start date, but at has been reported that Jeff Goldblum is set to return for this third sequel to the original hit film.

O Joe Johnston já está associado ao projecto do Captain America para a Marvel. A Marvel queria o Spielberg, mas como este custa caro, ficou-se pela "cópia". Muito dificilmente teremos um JP4 nos próximos 4 anos.

Esta gente realmente não sabe o que quer. Quando o Michael Crichton morreu, alguém do estúdio disse que, por respeito, já não iriam avançar com mais nenhum Jurassic Park. Agora lá vem nova conversa sobre uma 3ª sequela. Desde que não meta dinossauros equipados com armamento, como se falava há alguns anos atrás sobre um eventual novo filme (acho que a história era do John Sayles, salvo erro), mas não sei até que ponto a ideia já não acusa grande desgaste.

ehehehe Não sabia dessa dos dinossauros equipados com armamento. Ele há cada um... Por outro lado, se era escrito pelo John Sayles já deixava o pé atrás antes de criticar.

Ready for another trip to Isla Nublar? Universal and Steven Spielberg hope so, as the famous director has begun to meet with screenwriter Mark Protosevich the discuss ideas for a fourth film in the popular Jurassic Park franchise.

Spielberg, who directed the first two Jurassic Park films and served as an executive producer on the third, must be feeling nostalgic lately – he recently told journalists that he still thinks of making another Jaws movie, and now he’s returning to explore another franchise from his past. While it remains doubtful that Spielberg will ever be involved with another shark flick (or that a fifth Jaws film will ever get off the ground), at least Jurassic Park 4 seems like a project with a decent shot at coming to fruition.

The director and studio stress that these are very early brainstorming meetings between Spielberg and Protosevich. The duo has a previous relationship, with Protosevich having worked with Spielberg on his planned westernization of Park Chan-Wook’s Oldboy. A series of rights issues eventually killed that project once and for all, but apparently the two enjoyed working together and have teamed up for this project.

The original JP debuted back in 1993. Based on a Michael Crichton novel, the film is remembered for its incredible (at the time) visual effects, which paraded amazingly realistic looking dinosaurs across the screen. The title, along with James Cameron’s Terminator 2, is an important piece of film history if only because it showed what was possible using computer-generated imagery with old school special effects.

The first two films in the series raked in big bucks at the box office, but the third installment – released back in 2001 – didn’t do nearly as well, essentially stopping the series dead in its tracks. This is already leading to speculation that a new Jurassic Park film could be a potential rebooting of the franchise and not just another sequel. It makes sense on some levels – with today’s movie technology and the emergence of 3-D, a remake or reimagining of the original film could be visually impressive. The question is will audiences care? 3-D numbers are down this summer, leading many to wonder if the technology is losing its appeal with viewers.

The bigger question is who would helm such a project? While Spielberg is involved in these early story discussions, it seems unlikely that he’d get back behind the camera to make a new Jurassic Park – although Universal would almost assuredly love it if he did. Only time will tell – but we’ll keep you posted as new Jurassic Park 4 news comes to light.

Definitivamente! Mas também não sei até que ponto é que vai ser saudável um quarto filme do Jurassic Park.

Nunca fui fã de dinossauros mas o terceiro filme deixou-me tão satisfeito que apoio inteiramente a chegada de mais um. Especialmente se tiver a mão do Joe Johnston na realização.
