Com Sam Rockwell no principal papel:

Sam Bell is nearing the end of his contract with Lunar. He's been a faithful employee for 3 long years. His home has been Selene, a moon base where he has spent his days alone, mining Helium 3. The precious gas holds the key to reversing the Earth's energy crisis.

Isolated, determined and steadfast, Sam has followed the rulebook obediently and his time on the moon has been enlightening, but uneventful. The solitude has given him time to reflect on the mistakes of his past and work on his raging temper. He does his job mechanically, and spends most of his available time dreaming of his imminent return to Earth, to his wife, young daughter and an early retirement.

But 2 weeks shy of his departure from Selene, Sam starts seeing things, hearing things and feeling strange. And when a routine extraction goes horribly wrong, he discovers that Lunar have their own plans for replacing him... and the new recruit is eerily familiar.

Before he can return to Earth, Sam has to confront himself and the discovery that the life he has created, may not be his own. It's more than his contract that is set to expire.

Peter Sciretta, /Film: "I’m a huge sci-fi geek, so I guess I’m predisposed to like a film like 'Moon'. The film is a throw back to the old space sci-fi films of the 1970’s, and even borrows heavily from Kubrick’s '2001'. But at its core, the story is 'WALL-E' meets 'The Island' with' Twilight Zone' undertones. It’s a film filled with interesting ideas — big ideas, like any great sci-fi film. Charlie Kaufman was unable to construct a better horror film about death with last year’s 'Synecdoche, New York'"

Devin Faraci, CHUD.com: "The film is also starkly beautiful. The design of the moonbase and the lunar rovers are realistic, believable but also reminiscent of great scifi movies like '2001' and 'Silent Running' (both of which 'Moon' shares a very, very close bloodline. If you wanted to do a trilogy of hard scifi films, you could do a lot worse than these three, which shares themes and visuals). The world in which Sam lives has been thought out and makes sense, even though it doesn't quite click at first (the reveals cleared up lots of niggling technical questions I had during the first act). The effects work seamlessly - some that I can't reveal are so good as to be nearly baffling, especially at the limited budget level at which 'Moon' was made. And the score by Clint Mansell is gorgeous, spare and haunting."

James Rocchi, Cinematical: "'Moon' evokes many things -- the nature of the human experience, the nature of employee-management relations, how the odds are fairly good that the future will be exactly like today, but more so. With of its far-flung inventions, impeccable visual design and Clint Mansell's eerie score, 'Moon' boils down to a single man having a long conversation in isolation, telling himself a few lies and opening his own eyes to a few truths; Rockwell, playing the only person for tens of thousands of miles, has no one else to act against, and much of his plight has to be conveyed through special effects that gave him little or nothing to work with on-set."

Cady Heron, Collider: "The film explores what it means to be human as well as the importance of self: how we define ourselves, how we are seen by others, what are our essential needs. It's filmed beautifully and the effects look great, especially for an independent film. The production design is remarkable, too; the lunar station feels like a real, lived-in place, obviously not of our time yet not too glossy, either. The combined result is moody yet hopeful--a futuristic thriller with existential underpinnings."

Moon is a refreshingly philosophical and ultimately touching indie reflection on a genre that too often loses sight of character and story amid the wizardry of its special effects; told in the classic filmmaking tradition of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Set in the near future, Moon stars Sam Rockwell (Frost/Nixon, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind) as Sam Bell, an astronaut assigned by Lunar Industries to a three-year mission mining Helium 3 on the moon, the earth's new energy source. As his contract comes to an end and Sam's health starts to deteriorate, painful headaches, hallucinations and a lack of focus lead to an almost fatal accident. While recuperating, Sam meets a younger, angrier version of himself, who claims to be there to fulfill the same three- year contract Sam started all those years ago. The directorial feature debut from Duncan Jones, Moon also includes the voice of Kevin Spacey (21, American Beauty) as "Gerty," the lunar base's mysterious robot, whose mission is to keep Sam Bell occupied and on task. Grande surpresa estrear em Portugal...vá se lá perceber os criterios. Neste caso , ainda bem que nao foi directamente para dvd.

Já tive oportunidade de ver o filme e só tenho a dizer que gostei.

É sci/fi. É uma boa história. O filmes está simples e bem conseguido.

Não o posso considerar uma obra de arte mas, tenho de dizer que dei o tempo por bem empregue.

Acabei de o ver no Estoril Film Festival e posso dizer que é um bom filme.

Tem um boa historia, um bom ambiente sci/fi, e uma excelente banda sonora.
Não é uma obra prima mas é um filme muito bem conseguido.

Vale a pena ser visto.

Muito bom filme, não me importava nada de o ver de novo.
FC sólida, capaz, interessante.
Um grande actor e originalidade na evocação de referências passadas - 2001 e Solaris, por exemplo.

Um dos melhores filme FC dos ultimos anos e na minha opinião um futuro clássico.
Adorei o ambiente, o design algures entre o 2001, Alien e o Outland, o facto de usarem maquetes em vez de cgi para as cenas de efeitos e a simplicidade da história é absolutamente cativante, pela originalidade como trata o tema e pela incrivel interpretação do Rockwell.
Penso que é um daqueles filmes que quando se vê pela primeira vez nem nos parece particularmente memorável talvez por ser um filme bastante calmo sem grandes momentos de impacto visual naquele sentido em que nos lavam o cérebro constantemente mas quanto a mim é daqueles filmes que deixam memória e daqui a muitos anos ainda estará a ser referido como um dos melhores e mais imaginativos produtos de FC em cinema.
Adorei e foi um daqueles raros FC que eu não queria que acabasse e pedia para ver mais e se cada vez mais misterioso até ao fim.
Quanto a mim é um daqueles filmes realmente fabulosos dentro da FC principalmente porque parece menos genial do que na realidade conseguiu realmente ser. Brilhante.
Para mim é um para 9 em 10 e só não dou mais porque já sei que daqui a um par de anos estou a considerá-lo uma obra prima do género...aliás tendo em conta o que tenta passar por FC nos cinemas actualmente, este filme é uma verdadeira lufada de ar fresco e mais uma vez se prova que não é preciso dinheiro aos quilos para se fazer um bom filme de FC ou cinema com qualidade e imaginação.
Mágnifico. E qualquer coisa que me faça lembrar o Solaris (versão 1 ou 2) sem o plagiar, para mim ainda ganha mais pontos.

O tom é semelhante, mas a história é muito mais mainstream.
Está descansado que tem mais a ver com um bom episódio do twilight zone ambientado num cenário que se cruza entre o Alien e o Outland com uma pitada de Silent Running e uma grande dose de HAL de 2001.

No entanto para quem é fã dos Solaris tem aqui algo com que se entreter pois há algo de existencialista genialmente metido neste fabuloso e simples argumento.

Pessoal da space-opera e aventuras no espaço, esqueçam o filme, pois este é daqueles que nem mete cenas de acção nem nada. Ás vezes faz lembrar também o melhor do mistério de alguns episódios do Espaço 1999 pela atmosfera fria do cenário e tensão latente.
