Adiamento ? Nao percebendo nada da matéria , imagino que a WB vai sim pagar bastante dinheiro á FOX e voilá (seja por direitos de distribuicao ou outra coisa qualquer). Se a sentença se mantiver , é obvio que a WB vai perder dinheiro (ou pelo menos nao ganhar tanto) e que a Fox vai ganhar dinheiro do nada. Agora nao acredito muito no adiamento , pois isso nao seria benefico para nenhuma das partes. Custa-me a acreditar como é que uma empresa tao grande como a WB ,se lanca para uma coisa destas , gasta milhoes de dolares e nao tem a certeza absoluta que têm todos e quaisquer direitos sobre a obra. É perfeitamente idiota a situacao.

Provavelmente vao metr uns milhões ao bolso por um filme com o qual nao tiveram nada a ver e que nao conseguiram (ou nao quiseram) tirar do papel quando podiam.

A parte preocupante é esta:

“The more likely outcome is Fox studio chief Tom Rothman or Warners’ head Alan Horn striking some sort of compromise deal in which the studios share the movie’s costs and proceeds. But because Warners already is sharing the portion of the film it didn’t sell to Paramount with financing partner Legendary Pictures, the studio doesn’t have that much to divvy up.”

The talks will likely result in a deal that will give Fox co-distribution rights to the film, or even full rights to the motion picture. It seems doubtful that Fox would squash the release of the film altogether, but from what I understand, that possibility exists. Making a deal with Warner Bros could be a dangerous precedent for the company to make to make in terms of copyright ownership.

Não é inédito.
A Fox tinha um projecto para o "Spiderman" ( James Cameron envolvido em finais da década de 80 ), mas foi obrigada a desistir do projecto, mesmo depois de já terem sido lançadas as bases do projecto.
As razões prenderam-se com uma batalha em tribunal pelos direitos do personagem.

Digamos que os estúdios avançam primeiro e pensam depois.

Pois e isto vai dar um jeitão à Fox que está bem precisada de um êxito e de algum dinheiro proveniente dos seus filmes e assim vão ter algum lucro sem praticamente (ou até mesmo nenhum) investimento, dependendo se vão agora ter que colocar algum para a promoção do filme. Espero é que eles não fiquem com o poder de alterar o filme como quiserem.

Fox to Seek Order Delaying Watchmen Release

An attorney for 20th Century Fox says the studio will continue to seek an order delaying the release of Watchmen, according to The Associated Press.

U.S. District Court Judge Gary Feess last week agreed with Fox that Warner Bros. had infringed its copyright by developing and shooting the film, scheduled for release March 6.

Feess said Monday he plans to hold a trial Jan. 20 to decide remaining issues.

Fox claims it never fully relinquished story rights from its deal made in the late 1980s, and sued Warner Bros. in February. Warner Bros. contended Fox isn't entitled to distribution.

Warner Bros.' attorney said Monday he didn't know if an appeal was coming, but thinks a trial is necessary and a settlement unlikely.

The Los Angeles Times says that lawyers for 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. have agreed to let a federal judge decide whether Warner Bros. will be allowed to release Watchmen on March 6, forgoing a jury trial that could have put the high-profile film's future into even longer limbo.

In court papers filed Monday with U.S. District Judge Gary A. Feess, attorneys for Fox and Warner Bros. jointly said they would let the judge decide Jan. 20 whether Fox could block the film's theatrical distribution as Fox has been seeking all along as part of its copyright infringement lawsuit against Warner Bros.

In a preliminary ruling issued Dec. 24, Feess said Fox, and not Watchmen producer and distributor Warner Bros., owned the right to distribute the film. Warner Bros. is a unit of Time Warner Inc., and Fox is owned by News Corp.

In his December ruling, the judge urged the warring studios to negotiate a settlement, but no deal has been reached.

Warner Bros. and Twentieth Century Fox have resolved their dispute regarding the rights to the upcoming motion picture Watchmen in a confidential settlement. Warner Bros acknowledges that Fox acted in good faith in bringing its claims, which were asserted prior to the start of principal photography. Fox acknowledges that Warner Bros. acted in good faith in defending against those claims Warner Bros. and Fox, like all Watchmen fans, look forward with great anticipation to this film's March 6 release in theatres.

Fantastico ! Cada vez mais tenho confianca que o Snyder captou bem o estilo da historia (o trailer japones foi definitivamente o que me convenceu).

Já agora , como nao tinha comentado , o conflito acabou resolvido como esperado. Continuo é perpelexo como é que a WB , dona dos direitos das historias da DC (á qual o Watchmen pertence) , vende parte (de distribuicao pelo que percebi) á fox , e mais tarde avança para um projecto destes sem se lembrar que se calhar teriam de dividir uma parte do "bolo".
