E diz que a produtora ainda lhe deve dinheiro dos direitos de autor de «O Senhor dos Anéis»
Christopher Tolkien, filho do escritor J.R.R. Tolkien (autor de O Senhor dos Anéis e O Hoobit) está a tentar impedir as filmagens «O Hobbit», realizado por Guillermo Del Toro.

Tolkien, que, com 83 anos, é o filho mais novo do escritor, quer que os produtores paguem à sua família 200 milhões de dólares e garante que a New Line Cinema ainda lhes deve dinheiro pelos direitos de «O Senhor dos Anéis» (que rendeu mais de 1 bilião de dólares somente nos cinemas norte-americanos).

De acordo com o jornal britânico Sunday Times, Tolkien tem uma audiência marcada na Califórnia para o dia 6 de Junho, altura em que pretende obter uma ordem judicial para impedir a produção de «O Hobbit» (também produzido pela New Line).

As filmagens deverão começar ainda este ano na Nova Zelândia, caso Tolkien não consiga o que pretende.

Del Toro e Peter Jackson escrevem guião de «O Hobbit»


Os realizadores Guillermo del Toro e Peter Jackson vão encarregar-se da redacção do guião da película «O Hobbit», baseada na obra homónima de Tolkien, depois de falharem na busca da pessoa adequada para fazer a adaptação.
Segundo os media locais, o mexicano Del Toro, responsável pela direcção dos dois filmes em que se dividirá a história de «O Hobbit», e o neozelandês Jackson, realizador da saga «O Senhor dos Anéis» e produtor executivo das novas películas, puseram de lado a contratação de outros escritores, tal é o seu apego a estas aventuras.

A revista Hollywood Reporter escreveu que a decisão dos cineastas foi tomada por dois motivos: em primeiro lugar, a paixão dos dois realizadores pelas aventuras de Tolkien e, depois, a necessidade de o guião ser escrito por um grande conhecedor dessas histórias, para que os filmes possam estar concluídos dentro do prazo.

Os dois cineastas contarão com a colaboração da dupla de guionistas que trabalhou com Jackson em «O Senhor dos Anéis», Frank Walsh e Philippa Boyens.

«O Hobbit» é cronologicamente anterior a «O Senhor dos Anéis» e narra a viagem de Bilbo Baggins com o mago Gandalf na famosa Terra Média.

As duas películas previstas serão rodadas simultaneamente na Nova Zelândia, onde também se filmou «O Senhor dos Anéis», a partir da segunda metade de 2009, devendo chegar aos cinemas em 2011 e 2012.

Del Toro pode filmar «O Hobbit» em 3D

O realizador de «Labirinto do Fauno», Guillermo Del Toro, está a considerar filmar «O Hobbit» a três dimensões. «A nossa equipa está a discutir essa tecnologia, mas não agora», terá revelado o cineasta à MTV News.
«Lembro-me de ter assistido a Expresso Polar em 3D e IMAX, depois da versão original, e a minha vida foi completamente transformada», explicou o realizador.

«O Hobbit», uma espécie de complemento da trilogia de «O Senhor dos Anéis», igualmente baseado na obra de Tolkien, tem estreia prevista apenas para 2011, mas a ideia é lançar, inicialmente, uma versão «normal» e depois, sim, pensar na tecnologia 3D.

As três dimensões seriam utilizadas como ferramenta para contar a história, «em vez de ser o equivalente a uma atracção num parque de diversões», por isso Del Toro, que também dirigiu a trilogia de «Hellboy», não descarta esta hipótese.

Bem, se for assim será interessante ver. Agora "uma espécie de complemento da trilogia de «O Senhor dos Anéis»" mas quem foi o borgesso q escreveu isto?! O hobbit foi só o "rastilho" pro epico q se seguiu chamado senhores dos aneis. Podendo ser considerado a prequela.

Bem de facto o Hellboy está programado para ser uma trilogia mas o Del Toro ainda não realizou o ultimo filme.

E o The Hobbit pode ser tudo menos suplemento ao The Lord of the Rings.

ComingSoon.net talked to director Guillermo del Toro about The Hobbit and its sequel last night at an event for the new Hellboy II: The Golden Army DVD.

He says they won't start the casting process until they've finished writing: "Literally, like every week, what you discover writing the two movies, writing the two stories, it changes. So, every week there's a discovery, and anything we say this week would be contradicted next week. Certainly that would be true in casting. Why create hopes or why create expectations if down the line you're going to go, 'You know what? That was not a good idea.'"

Regarding the creatures, he says there are so many more to be explored in "The Hobbit" films that were not explored in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. "We want to do a muscle-driven, radio-controlled suits for a couple of things. I already started that with Wink in 'Hellboy II.' Wink was pushed as far as we could within the time limits and the budget limits of the movie and we're going to take what we learned and apply it.

"Smaug is the creature in 'The Hobbit.' The way Tolkien wrote it, already, is magnificent. It's already a fantastic character. So, obviously, dragons, you ask every person what their best favorite dragon is, they will give you a different answer. In my mind, what we're going to attempt on the design of this creature and the creation of this creature needs to push the envelope beyond anything you've ever seen on that kind of creature.

"There is some stuff that has been done with dragons that I find... there are very few landmarks created for me. One of the best and one of the strongest landmarks that almost nobody can overcome is 'Dragonslayer.' The design of the Vermithrax Pejorative is perhaps one of the most perfect creature designs ever made. So, what you have to be careful is not to try to be distinctive just to be distinctive, but Smaug has certain characteristics that make him unique already. I am bursting at the seams about spilling the beans, but I won't because I would be shot."

é bem que o Del toro queira implementar o método que teve no Hellboy na criação dos monstros, não fazê-los totalmente CGI's e com alguns puppeters, seria um bom trunfo, especialmente nos orcs, goblins

A:Hopefully Mignola, Barlowe, Spectral Motion, Guillermo Navarro and others…

Q:Will there be any cool creatures in Hobbit like Hellboy 2?
A:many many more and we will be pushing the goblin kindgom. we will be pushing smaug, the spiders of mirkwood. we will be pushing them to the edge of technology where we will fuse animatronics and cgi into a seamless new art form in creating creatures, i think.

Q:When does filming for The Hobbit begin?
A:it will begin in 2010 and we will shoot for about 370 days or so…

New Line/Warner Bros. is planning a December, 2011 release for The Hobbit and a December, 2012 release for its sequel.

Dominic Monaghan poderá fazer parte de «The Hobbit»

Dominic Monaghan poderá interpretar novamente uma das personagens criadas por J.R. Tolkien, em «The Hobbit», uma vez que o realizador, Guillermo del Toro, e o produtor, Peter Jackson, pretendem aproveitar algumas das personagens da trilogia de «O Senhor dos Anéis».
«Eles querem-nos de volta e há grandes hipóteses de voltarmos», afirmou o actor, fazendo referência também aos seus companheiros Elijah Wood, Sean Astin e Billy Boyd, que, na famosa trilogia, realizada por Peter Jackson, interpretaram o papel dos pequenos Hobbits.

Para o artista, «Guillermo del Toro é, tirando Peter Jackson, a pessoa certa para dar ao filme a quantidade de ternura que merece», acrescentando que, «obviamente, Ian McKellen e Andy Serkis estarão de volta».

As filmagens do primeiro filme sobre o livro «The Hobbit» devem começar ainda este ano e a equipa de produção deverá mudar-se para a Nova Zelândia por quatro anos.

With work on "The Hobbit" really starting to move forward, Guillermo del Toro updated MTV News this week with exclusive scripting, casting and pre-production news, including confirmation that "Hellboy" creator Mike Mignola will be coming aboard for early visualization.

"We are sketching and designing with Weta's John Howe, and [Adam Lee]," del Toro offered. "Mike Mignola is coming soon. He's going to do a stint on the design team."

This is good news for fans of Mignola, who worked with del Toro on both "Hellboy" films as well as providing some art for "Pan's Labyrinth."


"In about two, three months we're going to full-on have more designers come on ... from outside Weta. But we are already about a good third of the road [along] with some of the creatures — some really interesting and strong designs."

The script is currently del Toro's biggest task, though he was reluctant to specify exactly how far along he is at the moment.

"We're working on the outline. We did the cards, and then after the cards, we're fleshing out the outline. It's a titanic task. It sounds easy, but, uh, it's, I think, the harder thing to untangle."

Casting is still at a very early stage, but del Toro revealed that there's a very short list of names that he would like to see playing Bilbo Baggins.

"I can say safely, about four," he explained, but at this stage he has not talked with any of them.

"We make it a point not to talk to them — or any other actors that are not confirmed — because I think it's bad policy."

One of the biggest questions on the minds of Tolkien fans right now is what the current plan is for the proposed second del Toro entry, one that would bridge the gap between When asked whether that one had a title yet, del Toro could only joke, "I think that if I told you anything right now ... there's a sniper across the road."

Viggo Mortensen talks The Hobbit


Lord Of The Rings star Viggo Mortensen has spoken to totalfilm.com about The Hobbit, addressing speculation as to whether he’ll reprise his role as Aragorn.

“I’d rather finish the job myself than have another actor do it,” says Mortensen. “I’m interested in principle, but I’d want to see it done in the right spirit of Tolkien.”

Viggo gave a nod of approval to new director Guillermo del Toro, saying, “He’s strongminded, intelligent and probably just as stubborn [as Jackson].

"I don’t know if it’ll be as big a circus [as the Trilogy] in terms of several people writing changes at the last minute.

“Maybe it’ll be more streamlined and efficient, but to some degree it’ll probably be as bewildering a set-up as the other three.”

Mortensen also claims the original trilogy became more led by effects as the series progressed.

“The Fellowship Of The Ring for me was the one most faithful to Tolkien. The one that had the most to do with any kind of subtlety in terms of performance and storytelling.

“Starting with the second one it became more of a blockbuster special effects thing. That’s not to say as that type of movie they weren’t the best.

"You can’t argue with the films’ success, but had it been me, I would have focused less on the effects and more on the characterisations.

“I’d have allowed the secondary characters to speak more and not be so focused on the heroes. There was more balance in the way that all the races of Middle-earth were presented in the first one. It was more about the relationships… That’s just my personal taste.”
