Matrix & Harry Potter Films Coming to HD DVD

Warner Home Video will be opening the vaults and bringing out fan favorites and top franchises for all genres. Planned releases for 2007 include The Matrix franchise, all of the Harry Potter films and Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12. Other classic titles to be released in the first quarter of 2007 include Bullitt and The Getaway (1972) starring Steve McQueen. Also being released in 2007 is Alexander: Revisited - The Unrated Final Cut."

On February 13, the studio will debut the critically acclaimed and highly anticipated Martin Scorsese gangster drama The Departed on HD DVD, that will be available on HD DVD Combo for $39.99 SRP.

Warner Bros. recent theatrical hit Happy Feet and the critically acclaimed films Blood Diamond and We Are Marshall will make their HD DVD debuts in 2007. Dates and specifics for these titles will be announced soon.

Also coming to HD DVD will be The Wicker Man which will be available on January 30 and includes an alternate ending not seen in theaters. The slapstick comedy Beerfest (Unrated) from the Broken Lizard comedy group will also arrive to stores on the 30th. Both HD DVD titles will be available for $28.99 SRP. All bonus materials on the standard DVD version will be included on the high definition versions.

Ao que pareçe o Alexander foi adiado para Maio,o que é uma pena pois estava mesmo curioso para vêr a versão que o Oliver Stone tinha em mente desde o início mas não pode lançar nos cinemas.Vai sair em Fevereiro em DVD mas ou compro um ou outro,não vou comprar a mesma edição duas vezes(claro que este é um filme que precisa mesmo de Alta Definição por isso acho que vou esperar).
Quando é que a Warner lança uns clássicos recentes dos anos 90?Tipo o Heat e o Contact e por aí adiante ou a coleção inteira Do Kubrick finalmente em formato anamórfico(e eu que pensava que o Shining e o Full Metal Jacket tinham sido filmados em 4x3!!)

Penso que devem lançar os grandes classicos em HD, isto porque nos USA já existem canais a transmitirem estes filmes em HD, aqui vai um exemplo:

é de pessoal americano que tem canais de filmes HD
a source quer dizer que é uma gravação de um canal que transmite em 1080i
mas a imagem está em 720p pois foi comprimida para este formato.

É claro que com o fullHD 1080p do Blue-Ray e HD-DVD supõem-se melhor qualidade
