Grindhouse (2007) - Robert Rodriguez e Quentin Tarantino

Post by jgeiras »

Quentin Tarantino has announced at Comic-Con in San Diego that Kurt Russell will be featured in the film Grindhouse as the slasher.

Russell will play Stuntman Mike in the "Death Proof" segment of the film, along with Rosario Dawson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead who Tarantino confirmed are starring.

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are each directing a 60-minute horror tale for Grindhouse. Rodriguez's part, "Planet Terror," will be a zombie movie, while Tarantino's section, "Death Proof," will a slasher film. Faux trailers and ads will run between the two pics as an intermission.

Grindhouse will be released on April 6, 2007.

E para aguçar ainda mais o vosso apetite:
Now what I really want to talk about is GRIND HOUSE… the greatest horror film ever made. I know what you’re asking – “you’ve seen it?” No I have not, but I don’t need to, the footage we saw was enough for me to safely say this will be one of the best horror films ever made. The footage we were shown looked like George A. Romero’s ‘Dawn of the Dead’, only if it had been shot with the technology we had today. We got to see people get hit by cars and explode, zombies chowing down on human guts, explosions and best of all Rose McGowan rockin’ an automatic weapon as a leg. My first gut reaction to the gun as a leg was “lame”, until I saw the footage. Rose is chillin’ on the back of a motor cycle blowing off zombie heads with the gun, then she’s rolling on the ground and aiming it at more zombie scum. We also got to see the Danny Treo commercial, which Tarantino and Rodriquez said they’d like to make a feature in the sequel. Explaining what we saw doesn’t do it any justice; you just have to see it. The way they made the film look only added to the sheer excitement it evoked. They made it look like a grind house film carrying black lines across the screen and tons of positive and negative dirt. It looks completely authentic to the ‘70s other than the effects they added. This is going to be one hell of a ride, so hang on!

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez each will direct a feature length horror tale including fake movie trailers in between both movies. Rodriguez's part, "Project Terror," will be a zombie pic, while Tarantino's section, "Death Proof," will be a slasher seg featuring an indestructible car.

Quentin Tarantino Finalizes Grindhouse Cast

Quentin Tarantino has cast Michael Bacall ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation"), Eli Roth (Hostel) and newcomer Omar Doom in his half of Grindhouse, the highly anticipated double feature he is making with Robert Rodriguez, which will include two films joined by faux ads and trailers. Rodriguez's movie is called "Planet Terror," while Tarantino's movie is "Death Proof," a slasher flick. Bacall, Roth and Doom are cast in "Death Proof" alongside Kurt Russell and Zoe Bell, Rosario Dawson, Vanessa Ferlito, Jordan Ladd, Rose McGowan, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Marley Shelton, Tracie Thoms and Mary Elizabeth Winstead who were previously announced in July at the 2006 San Diego Comic Con International. The announcement was made today by Quentin Tarantino and Dimension Films.

The ensemble cast for Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" includes Freddy Rodriguez, Rose McGowan, Josh Brolin, Naveen Andrews, Marley Shelton, Michael Biehn, Stacy Ferguson (also known as Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas), Jeff Fahey, and Michael Parks.

Grindhouse is being shot in the tradition of the '70s exploitation films that have significantly influenced both Rodriguez and Tarantino.

Tarantino began shooting "Death Proof" in Austin, Texas on August 21st. Erica Steinberg and Elizabeth Avellan are serving as producers. Rodriguez recently completed principal photography on "Planet Terror" in Austin, with Elizabeth Avellan serving as producer.

Grindhouse will be released in theatres nationwide on Easter weekend - April 6, 2007.

Shannon McIntosh, executive vice president of production and post production, Sandra Condito, vice president of production and development and Richard Saperstein, president of production, are overseeing the project on behalf of Dimension Films, reporting to Bob Weinstein.

Ver o Kurt Russell no papel de slasher, deve ser interessante.
