"After years of anticipation, the fans of Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner" will soon be able to experience the director's "intended cut," which promises to be different from the theatrical cut, the international cut, and the previous director's cut. It's all very confusing, but this particular flick is worth the trouble.

Variety irons it out nicely: "Warner's rights to "Blade Runner" lapsed a year ago, but the studio has since negotiated a long-term license. The pic, now considered a sci-fi classic, has had a troubled history from the start: When Scott ran overbudget, completion bond guarantors took control of it and made substantial changes before its 1982 theatrical release, adding a voiceover and happy ending. That version was replaced by the much better-received director's cut in 1992, but Scott has long been unhappy with it, complaining that he was rushed and unable to give it proper attention.

The restored "Director's Cut" will debut on homevid in September, and remain on sale for four months only, after which time it will be placed on moratorium. "Blade Runner: Final Cut" will arrive in 2007 for a limited 25th anniversary theatrical run, followed by a special edition DVD with the three previous versions offered as alternate viewing: Besides the original theatrical version and director's cut, the expanded international theatrical cut will be included. The set will also contain additional bonus materials."

Não, no final de 2007 será lançado no cinema o tal "Final Cut" e a edição com as versões "Theatrical", "Director's Cut" e "Expanded International Theatrical Cut". O DVD do "Final Cut" não tem data marcada.

São excelentes noticias. Vamos é ver o preço desta edição 3 em 1.
Estou é com curiosidade para ver a nova versão que irá sair nos cinemas. Vamos ver se o Ridley Scott's não estraga o que para mim é um filme de culto, è que a nível pessoal acho que o Ridley Scott's não tem andado muito inspirado nos ultimos tempos.

"Uma das mais cultuadas ficções científicas de todos os tempos, Blade Runner será relançado em DVD pela Warner Home Video.
Para o relançamento do clássico de Ridley Scott está sendo preparada uma nova versão do filme, novamente reeditado pelo diretor. Desta vez, ele promete, será a última.

Em 1982, como Scott ultrapassou o orçamento do filme foi obrigado a entregá-lo aos financiadores, que fizeram mudanças significativas à sua visão original. A inclusão na narração em off, o final feliz nas montanhas e a ausência das sugestões de que o detetive Decker seria também um Replicante foram as mais gritantes. Tais elementos foram arrumados pelo cineasta um década depois, quando o filme ganhou uma "versão do diretor". Mas Scott declarou-se insatisfeito mesmo com essa montagem, já que ele disse ter sido apressado e que não teve tempo de dedicar atenção suficiente à obra. Desta vez ele teve todo o tempo que precisava, já que começou a retrabalhá-lo em 2000.

Os direitos da WB sobre Blade Runner terminaram há um ano, deixando o filme fora de catálogo em DVD. Desde então a empresa esteve negociando uma continuidade.

Blade Runner: The Final Version (A versão final) será lançado em setembro e ficará nas lojas apenas quatro meses. Ele volta em 2007, com lançamento nos cinemas e retorno aos DVDs em nova embalagem, contendo materiais adicionais e todas as montagens existentes do filme. São quatro: original de cinema (EUA, 1982), original de cinema internacional (sem cortes), versão do diretor (1992) e versão definitiva (2006)."

Lets all hope that the Genius boys at Warner Bros. decide to pull their heads out of their butt cracks and include the legendary Denver/Dallas work print of the film in this set and not make us wait a few more years for the 'Special' 'Special' edition to come out on disc. Come on Guys!!! Here's the real kicker, before the 'Final Cut' DVD is released, there will be a restored and remastered "director's cut" released on DVD in September and it will remain on sale for only four months, after which time it will be placed on moratorium. OK, deixem-me resumir. Isto vai confundir muita gente, especialmente as pessoas pouco informadas. Uma autentica vigarice por parte da editora, tentado aproveitar-se dos mal informados.

Há ou vai haver 4 versões do filme: A do cinema (do estúdio), a internacional, a director´s cut (1992) e a Ultimate Director´s Cut ( a sair para o ano no 25º aniversário pois para o Ridley Scott a versão de 92 foi feita a pressa)

1º Final deste ano – Edição Especial do Director´s Cut (que já era para sair e limitada a 4 meses)
2º Vai sair para o ano no cinema a Ultimate e posteriormente em DVD.
3º No final do ano de 2007 vai sair uma box com todas as 4 versões.

Ou seja, ainda temos de esperar muito.

Mais.. é uma edição da Warner, sendo assim, não esperem por uma promoção muito cedo, e esperem por um preço acessível.

This coming September, there will be a new limited DVD release (HD-DVD & Blu-ray Disc are also planned) of the restored 1992 Director's Cut (you know... the one that isn't really a director's cut). This will be available for just four months. We believe this is basically the 2-disc release that Warner had originally planned to bow LAST year.

Then next year, just in time for the film's 25th anniversary, Ridley Scott's ultimate Blade Runner: The Final Cut will hit theaters for a limited run. This will be a REAL director's cut, with restored scenes and more - all the stuff that Ridley's always wanted to do with the film but hasn't really been given the chance to do before. That will be followed later in the year by an Ultimate Blade Runner DVD release. You can expect a multi-disc box set (again, likely with a simultaneous HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc release) that will contain at least four different versions of the film... ALL in full anamorphic widescreen, we might add. You'll get the film's original U.S. theatrical cut, you'll get the expanded international theatrical cut, you'll get the 1992 Director's Cut and you'll get the new Final Cut as well

A edição portuguesa deverá sair em Agosto de 2007

Warner ha confirmado a zonadvd.com el lanzamiento de la Edición Especial para Coleccionistas de Blade Runner en DVD, clásico indiscutible de la ciencia ficción, cuya salida en España está prevista inicialmente para el próximo mes Agosto de 2007.
