From The Times Online: "Sony Pictures, the studio behind "The Da Vinci Code," is hoping to bring another novel by Brown, "Angels and Demons," to the big screen, a senior executive told The Times yesterday.

Tom Hanks could return to star as the Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, who appeared in the book and will be the hero of Brown’s next novel. Mr Blake said: “We are very interested in filming Angels and Demons. We hope that the relationship with Dan Brown will be a long one. That could be the next project.”

Angels and Demons was the reclusive author’s third novel after he gave up his job as an English teacher. It tells the story of Langdon’s brush with a shadowy secret society, the Illuminati, and his frantic quest for the world’s most powerful energy source, in the company of a beautiful Italian physicist whose father, a brilliant physicist, has been murdered."

From Variety: "Striking while the iron is sizzling, Sony has signed "The Da Vinci Code" scribe Akiva Goldsman to adapt author Dan Brown's first religious thriller, "Angels & Demons." "Code" grossed $231.8 million worldwide in its first five days.

In "Angels," Langdon's character tries to solve a murder and unravel a plot by an ancient group, the Illuminati, to blow up the Vatican during a papal conclave. Sony acquired the feature rights to "Angels" as part of its 2003 deal with Brown for "The Da Vinci Code."

Akiva Goldsman's earlier screenplays include "A Time to Kill," "Batman & Robin," "Lost in Space," "A Beautiful Mind," and "Cinderella Man.""

Será que o Tom Hanks aceitará vestir novamente a pele de Robert Langdon?
Vi-o no recentemente no Conan O'Brien e pareceu-me interessado em falar de tudo menos no "Da Vinci Code" .
Eu, e não passa de uma opinião, não me lembro de um filme recente do Hanks em que ele estivesse tão mal aproveitado ou melhor, tão "desligado" do que se passava em seu redor.

Eu li o livro e sim, o contexto é bastante similar e a estrutura também, com os protagonistas a saltar de pista em pista. Assim como o final, que no caso do Anjos e Demónios é bastante exuberante e a lembrar uma novela mexicana... (quem leu o livro vai perceber o que eu estou a dizer)

Gostei mais deste livro do que o Código da Vinci... mas se o filme for feito com o Tom Hanks e com o Ron Howard então vai sair novamente uma granda banhada!
Mais uma maneira de ganhar uns cobres..

Acredito que sim Lionheart.
A personagem "Robert Langdon" aparentemente suscitaria um grande interesse por parte de qualquer actor ciente do sucesso do livro de Dan Brown .
Mas, de alguma forma, e se já viste o Da Vinci Code, compreenderás a minha opinião, desde a intenção e a forte vontade do Hanks em protagonizar o filme até ao resultado final do mesmo, definitivamente, algo se perdeu.
E nem tudo será culpa do Ron Howard, digo eu.
No entanto, e apesar de tudo, com criticas mais ou menos boas, o sucesso financeiro que o filme está a obter é inquestionável.
Engraçado é constatar, e isto não passa de uma mera curiosidade, as pessoas que conheço e que normalmente não se interessam pela sétima arte, acorreram em massa ás salas de cinema, nestes ultimos tempos, para ver 2 filmes:
-Crime do Padre Amaro
e
-O Código de Da Vinci.
Ou seja o sexo e a religião mantem as salas portuguesas recheadas.
E se realmente houver uma adaptação do Anjos e Demonios para cinema, apesar de menos conhecido, o publico irá aderir adequadamente, pois em primeiro lugar, acredito que uma maquinaria pesada de marketing irá, mais uma vez funcionar e segundo, porque, se bem me lembro, o Langdon, neste romance "pontua"!

bisard concordo contigo, também gostei mais deste. Aliás já o tinha referido no outro tópico. Por isso é que eu ao ler o 'Código Da Vinci' achei o livro muito repetitivo e previsivel, para não falar dos factos históricos que já conhecia e que não surpreendeu-me em nada.

Vamos a ver o que sai disto, ao menos que escolham outro realizador...

como já vi o código davinci e não fiquei desapontado, é com agrado que vejo a adaptação desta obra.
só espero que não seja escolhido o Ron Howard e principalmente o Tom Hanks

Steven Spielberg interessado na realização!?

"IGN FilmForce is sharing a particularly juicy piece of unsubstantiated movie gossip that indicates ... Steven Spielberg might be interested in directing Robert Langdon's pre-"Da Vinci" adventure, "Angels & Demons."

Says IGNFF: "In a report attributed to Sky News, the rumor mill is suggesting that Oscar winner Steven Spielberg is being considered by Sony to direct Angels & Demons, based on the novel by Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown.

The Spielberg rumor, though, dates back to February. Spielberg Films wisely pointed out at that time "the fact that DreamWorks is now owned by Paramount and Steven Spielberg is contractually obligated to deliver four to six pictures as director/producer for the parent studio. Spielberg, as always, will continue to play as a free agent, but any projects he collaborates on with other studios will be co-productions with Paramount."

Tudo indica o regresso de Ron Howard para a realização:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Da Vinci Code director Ron Howard and star Tom Hanks are in final talks to return for the prequel Angels & Demons.

The trade says that Columbia Pictures, which benefited from "Da Vinci's" $758 million worldwide box office earnings, has set an early January start date and has hired A-list casting directors Jane Jenkins and Debbie McWilliams to fill out the thriller's supporting roles.

Akiva Goldsman is adapting Dan Brown's novel, in which Harvard professor Robert Langdon tries to solve a murder and unravel a plot by an ancient group, the Illuminati, to blow up the Vatican during a papal conclave.

The studio is eyeing a December 19, 2008 release.
