Pois estou nesse processo ;-)
Estive a fazer umas pesquisas.

Cita-lhe apenas isto:

"...our box subs offer low height, stylish end-table utility and finishes ranging from basic black, to drop-dead gorgeous real wood veneers and piano gloss. ..."

P.S.

"I recently sold my Strata 5 after owning it for four months. I demoed the Storm 5 & it is a definite step up. I think the £200 extra is worth it. BUT the initial £800 is NOT, if you get my meaning . I replaced my Strata with a 2nd hand SVS, which cost me the same as I sold my Rel for, & the SVS goes much deeper with less distortion at a MUCH greater output. I would call the Rel ST. range bass speakers rather than subwoofers, since they don't give out a lot of real low stuff.

You're not the first. Rel have done an excellent job with their marketing in convincing people that they are buying the best in subwoofers. The ST range would be good if they were several hundred pounds cheaper. If you can get a good second hand one that will be better value. They are fine if you can get them second hand AND you can't accomodate something bigger. If you can get something larger, then I feel for sure you can get something better for your money when buying new & probably second hand.

What you are paying for with Rel is a) the name, b) remote control with memories & digital displays (believe me, once you have set your sub up properly you really won't need these), c) ABC driver overload protection which would not be needed if they put decent sized amps in them.

There are others out there apart from SVS & BK. The Axiom EP500 was tested by some forum members against an SVS & came out tops see here http://www.avforums.com/forums/showt...0&page=1&pp=15 . Not sure how much that costs tho. Also, I've heard people talk about the Mackie HRS120, which has come down a lot recently to £700 - £800.

There are loads other may recommend. Most of the forum members have owned Rel's and moved onto soemthing else, so just beware of the whole prestige thing of owning a Rel, IMO it can be short lived"

e...

"My Strata 5 didn't even get abywhere near 20 hz. I never measured the Strata, but I have measured the SVS. My SVS, in my room, starts plummeting at 20hz. 22hz is played with absolute ease with no dip in response.

In terms of using the ears - I played Mariah Carey's new album on the SVS when it was first setup, & it's got some really low notes on there, & the SVS just spat them out. Just before selling my Rel I played the same piece on it & the lowest notes just disappeared, they just weren't there. The SVS also reproduced deep bass drums in guitar music MUCH cleaner & deeper & more controlled than my Rel.

I was worried the SVS would be good for movies, but not as good as the Rel for music, especially since I couldn't afford to keep both. I was wrong. The SVS beat it hands down, no contest on both. The SVS is MUCH cleaner.

The only sub in Rel's ST range that would get near 20hz I would think would be the Storm 5, but I don't think that would either, perhaps nearer 25, who knows. As Ian has often mentioned the ST range will only get down to any depth if it is in a room that exaggerates the real low frequencies.

For the price of the Storm 5 I think you could get a serious sub that will surpass the Storm 5 for music & movies."
