CD-Wow! : Portuguese Consumers Petition

Dear sirs,

Cd Wow! is one of the most beloved portuguese consumer's online shops.

Due to recent changes of your policies (CD Wow! now sends CDs and DVDs from Singapore, a non-EU territory), your faithful Portuguese clients are not happy to have to pay the extra custom taxes that may be charged to their orders (and which could be avoided altogether if the shipment was made from within the EU).

It is also worth mentioning that Portugal endorses importation laws that are more vague than the ones in other EU countries. We do not have a minimum value an order can have before being charged importation taxes. It does not matter how little you declare in your orders, the Portuguese consumer is always at risk of being charged this added tax.

Sending vouchers to compensate consumers for this added tax is a very nice gesture, but we know from previous experience that after a store is "marked" by the Custom authority, all packages will be stopped and separated from the rest of the mail so that they can be joined with other orders that may have been sent to the same person in order to charge a higher customs tax. In addition, delivery time can be delayed from 2-3 days to several weeks.

The members/users/readers of this forum, which is by the way, the most important source of information and online interaction in Portugal concerning DVDs, and also one your affiliate sites, would like to ask CD-Wow! to go back to sending its orders from the EU.

Knowing that answering to this request will fully satisfy ALL of your Portuguese customers, we hope that your company will continue to fulfill our best interests.

We would not send this petition if CD-Wow! wasn't one of our favorite stores. Thank you for being one of the best online stores around.
