Paul Thomas Anderson (Magnólia, Boogie Nights, Embriagado de Amor) está de volta.
O seu próximo filme chama-se There Will Be Blood. O filme conta a história do confronto entre um engenheiro da indústria petrolífera e seu filho, que divergem em questões a respeito da classe operária, dando início a um debate sobre o socialismo. A história é situada no sul da Califórnia durante os anos 20 e envolve escândalos e intrigas políticas.
Anderson já está escolhendo o elenco, que será encabeçado por Daniel Day-Lewis

Vem aí grande filme, este realizador só faz filmes muito bons, e o Daniel Day Lewis é prova de qualidade a nível de representação

Sim,o Daniel D. Lewis é quase sempre bom, mas as grandes expectativas que eu tenho em relação a este filme, estão relacionadas com o facto de ser realizado por Paul Thomas Anderson, para mim o melhor realizador americano surgido nos últimos 15 anos. Sam Mendes (embora este seja britânico) e Sofia Copolla, estão por perto em termos de qualidade, mas Paul Thomas Anderson é mesmo único.

Por falar no Paul Thomas Anderson, ninguém sabe se há planos para uma ediçao nacional do Boogie Nights, um dos melhores filmes da decada de 90 ?!

In "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre," it's not the gold that destroys men's souls but greed; in "There Will Be Blood," the commodity that drives the greed is oil.

Daniel Day-Lewis is at his brilliant best as the story's Daniel Plainview, a man whose humanity diminishes as his fortunes increase. Never an exemplar of human kindness, Plainview becomes truly monstrous by film's end. Spanning three decades from 1898 to 1927, the approximately two hour and 40-minute film begins and ends with Plainview as a solitary figure.

Cinematical

...A straight-faced period piece in which the most recognizable names are Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Dano? This is not what we've come to expect from good ol' Paul T. Anderson!

And I suppose that's what makes the director's There Will Be Blood such a stunning surprise. It's more than a "departure" for the director; it's a monumental display of "evolution" that'll wow the established fans and impress a helluva lot more new ones. This is a dark, compelling and effortlessly engrossing film, one bolstered by a lead performance that ranks among the very best of Lewis' impressive career.

The film will most often be compared to Orson Welles' Citizen Kane, so I guess I can get the ball rolling on that particular crutch -- but it's also an apt comparison.

Same here. Por isso acho que não vou ver... Claramente não é o meu estilo de filme/realizador e apesar de não ter desgostado do Boogie Nights também não o achei nenhuma maravilha...

There Will Be Blood, acaba de ganhar os dois principais prémios dos E. U., no que diz respeito a associações de críticos. Foi considerado o melhor filme do ano pelos críticos de Nova York e pelos críticos de Los Angeles.
