When he came to visit me [on the set of Avatar] I said to him, “Quit ****ing around with these wine movies in the south of France, make another science fiction film.” And he saw the technique we were using and got all fired up about it.
He turned to his producer and said, “Why am I doing this Robin Hood? I should be doing science fiction!”

Quem sabe nunca esquece , e o regresso do Ridleyao sci-fi vai ser um verdadeiro acontecimento (seja o Alien , seja o livro que ele esteve associado recentemente).

Essa cronica do Cameron esta hilariante. Mas era mesmo excelente que o Scott fizesse um bom filme de FC novamente, isso era.

MTV News had the chance to speak to director Ridley Scott about the prequel to his 1979 sci-fi classic "Alien." In his response, Scott revealed several major plot details.

"As we speak, I've got a pile of pages next to me; it's like the fourth draft," he said about the status of the project. "We're not dreaming it up anymore. We know what the story is. We're actually making the film. I've already got people working graphically on designs."

Scott continued: "It's set in 2085, about 30 years before Sigourney [Weaver's character Ellen Ripley]. It's fundamentally about going out to find out 'Who the hell was that Space Jockey?' The guy who was sitting in the chair in the alien vehicle - there was a giant fellow sitting in a seat on what looked to be either a piece of technology or an astronomer's chair. And our man [Tom Skerritt as Captain Dallas] climbs up and says 'There's been an explosion in his chest from the inside out - what was that?' I'm explaining who the space jockeys were."

He said that the Weyland-Yutani company has yet to be formed. "Weyland hasn't joined Yutani yet, so they go and see Weyland," Scott explained. "[The film] is about the discussion of terraforming - taking planets and planetoids and balls of earth and trying to terraform, seed them with the possibilities of future life."

Regarding Weaver's participation, Scott said: "It will be before she was born! [But] the main character will be a woman."

He added that the alien will have to be updated. "I have to design - or redesign - earlier versions of what these elements are that led to the thing that catapults out of the egg, the face-hugger. I don't want to repeat it. The alien in a sense, as a shape, is worn out."

Finally, Scott said that the plan is to have the prequel in theaters by end of 2011 or find the best date in 2012

Durante as entrevistas de divulgação de seu novo épico, Robin Hood, o diretor Ridley Scott respondeu a muitas perguntas de nosso correspondente em Los Angeles Steve Weintraub (editor do site parceiro do Omelete Collider) sobre o prelúdio de Alien - O Oitavo Passageiro que ele está desenvolvendo.

Scott confirmou que o filme será rodado em 3-D, mas que isso é atualmente um problema que a produção enfrenta. As filmagens em 3-D estereoscópico exigem bastante luz - o que destoa do tom sombrio do filme. Scott deve mexer bastante nas cores do longs na pós-produção por conta disso.

O diretor também falou que acredita que o tom do primeiro Alien - que está com 29 anos - ainda encontra apelo entre a audiência contemporânea, apesar do público estar muito mais acostumado com ação desenfreada hoje em dia.

O cineasta revelou ainda que serão dois prelúdios a Alien - um filme e sua continuação. "Primeiro vou resolver este e depois quero fazer mais um, que viria antes de O Oitavo Passageiro". Scott dirigirá o roteiro do prelúdio de Alien que o novato Jon Spaihts emplacou no estúdio. A estreia, segundo o diretor, pode acontecer no final de 2011 ou em 2012.

Scott concluiu a conversa dizendo que foi procurado para converter alguns de seus filmes antigos para 3-D, mas que prefere concentrar suas energias em coisas novas. Blade Runner e Gladiador certamente estão na mira de Hollywood para a conversão. Afinal, aqui na Cozinha não acreditamos que alguém teria interesse em assistir a Um Bom Ano 3-D...

São as malditas "modas". A coisa pegou e é "in" fazer um 3D, está na moda e pode-se também sacar mais dinheiro às pessoas e tudo...

Como já disse, gostei da experiência do Avatar, mas como isso apenas: uma experiência. A porcaria do 3D torna os filmes monocromáticos, faz doer a cabeça, os óculos são incómodos, aquilo não tem ponta por onde se pegue!

E aqueles novos écrãs pseudo-3D que se vêm agora nas fnacs... argh. Eu detestava ter aquilo em casa, fico mal disposto só de olhar para eles.

Sim, mas pelo menos no cinema veio para ficar durante uns tempos. Os estúdios perceberam era uma boa maneira de aumentar o preço dos bilhetes sem ser um aumento propriamente dito. Assim é uma taxa.

Não gosto, incomoda-me e sobretudo acho que não vale o dinheiro. Eu já fechei a torneira e não volto a ver filmes em 3D no cinema. Mas preparem-se que ainda vai durar.

Os aliens vão levar um "lifting", não vão ser mais evoluídos.

Isso porque a forma do alien já está ultrapassada, segundo o Scott. Para mim continua a ser perfeita. :D

bom coment hehe, mas ultrapassado uma ova, mara muitos filmes de bichos chegarem aos calcanhares,
do bicho alien de 1979, como tu dizes e eu digo continua a ser perfeito
