CD-WOW in administration
Posted: 08 Sep 2010 08:50 AM PDT
A word of warning to anyone plannning to use CD-WOW today – their parent company STOMP HK and STOMP AU are now in voluntary administration. This essentially spells the end of CD-WOW unless a buyer can be found.
At the time of writing, CD-WOW are still accepting orders on their website, and there is no mention on the site of the state of their parent company. But it is unlikely that any orders placed will be fulfilled.
It is a sad end for a company that at one point was the best retailer on the web – incredible prices, great voucher offers and outstanding customer service. However, in recent years they have suffered badly – rarely did they offer competitive pricing, customer service became attrocious and waiting times for ordered items were often measured in months. No retailer can offer such poor service and still expect to survive. Goodbye CD-WOW, unfortunately you won’t be missed……..

CD-WOW Update

It seems we were a bit premature in announcing the demise of CD-WOW. Whilst it is true that the parent company STOMP HK and STOMP AU are in voluntary administration, it has come to light that CD-WOW has been sold to another company – Surrealus Pty Ltd. This company also own Australian DVD retailer EzyDVD, as well as running the Blockbuster franchise in Australia.
So good news then – I have regularly used EzyDVD in the past, so it can only be a good thing for CD-WOW to have these guys on board. We’ll keep you updated if we hear any more!
Many thanks to atexp80 who provided further information in the comments of the previous article.
