Dialogue in Solo has been interpreted as sugesting that Lando could be pansexual, therefore making him sexually interested in men, woman, and droids, which could include both Han and Landos companion female co-pilot droid L3-37. Co-writer Jonathan Kasdan opinionated that Lando is pansexual, stating, "There's a fluidity to Donald and Billy Dee's [portrayal of Lando’s] sexuality [...] I would have loved to have gotten a more explicitly LGBT character into this movie. I think it's time, certainly, for that, and I love the fluidity ― sort of the spectrum of sexuality that Donald appeals to and that droids are a part of. He doesn’t make any hard and fast rules." However a much more ambigous answer was given by Lawrence Kasdan who had co-written with Lucas, the character of Lando in his original appeareances in the original trilogy films The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, he said about L3-37 joking about Lando's flirty attitude, "that is her personality, maybe it means something, maybe it doesn't". The article also noted that one of the first things Lando did, right after being introduced into the franchise, was making clear his attraction to woman by kissing Princess Leia's hand and telling her "you look absolutely beautiful". Other magazines said, that the pansexuality described by Jonathan Kasdan, ultimately amounted to nothing due to it, never being mentioned anywhere in the film, nor anywhere else.
O argumentista Jon Kaplan chegou a twettar o seguinte:
"Sorry to have brought identity/gender politics into... NOPE. Not sorry AT ALL 'cause I think the GALAXY George gave birth to in '77 is big enough for EVERYONE: straight, gay, black, white, brown, Twi'lek, Sullustan, Wookiee, DROID & anything inbetween. #droidrights #weAREsentient"
