Two hundred years in the future, in a fully colonized solar system, police detective Josephus Miller is given the assignment to find a missing young woman, Julie Mao. Joining his task is James Holden, former first officer of an ice freighter who is involved in an incident caused by the tense relationship between Earth, Mars and the Belt. Far from their struggles in space, United Nations executive Chrisjen Avasarala works to prevent war between Earth and Mars. Soon the three find out that the missing woman is connected to a vast conspiracy that threatens all humanity.

Realmente tenho que admitir que acabei por gostar da minimamente série. O que é bom, porque ia sem qualquer tipo de expectativa, porque space opera depois da genial BSG não há rigorosamente nada de realçar, e esta voltou a despertar aquela faisca pelo género again.
Agora, além de ser ver bem, também não é nada do outro mundo. As personagens são catitas, o acting o no mínimo aceitável, o diálogo soa quase sempre a cheesy, o próprio CGI mesmo para uma série teve partes que parecia que estava a jogar um jogo qualquer (tb acaba por ser o menos se o resto for bom, diga-se), e a história bem, pode-se dizer que tem potencial. Aliás, não lendo os livros ou conhecendo nada dela, diria que na próxima season têm que começar a abrir mais os horizontes e a mais facções, novos mundos, novos enredos, porque os actuais soube a pouco. Mas talvez pode ser que com aquele final seja o click para outras paragens.
Mas para começar não está nada mau. Agarrou-me. :)

Quando estiver prestes a sair a season 2, vou revê-la, já que tenho a edição em dvd inglesa (claro que em Portugal nem cheirá-la...).
Na baliza Jackson, defesa com Scorsese, Coppola, Spielberg e Eastwood. No meio campo, Ridley Scott, Wes Anderson, Pollack e Carpenter. Avançados, Woody, e solto nas alas Tarkovsky. Suplentes: Bunuel, Fellini, Kurosawa, Visconti, Antonioni, Lynch e Burton.
A primeira temporada destacou-se de tudo o que a SyFy tem feito ultimamente e a segunda temporada espero que mantenha o mesmo nível.
O canal SyFy tinha perdido toda a minha atenção ao cancelar grandes projectos que tinha e de não criar nada de jeito, mas de à dois anos para cá tem criado alguns projectos interessantes que reacenderam o meu interesse. Para além deste, destaco Dark Matter e Killjoys que apesar de não terem a qualidade desta série são "Space Operas" muito interessantes.
Também já me chamaram a atenção, na revista que assino há vários anos (sobre FC e fantasia, a SFX: http://www.gamesradar.com/sfx/), já tinham dito coisas interessantes sobre essas duas, embora também digam que são um pouco derivativas, mesmo para space operas...
Gostaria mesmo era de poder ler os livros em que o Expanse se baseia, do James Corey (um pseudónimo de dois escritores)!
edit: estão á venda na fnac o 1º e o 3º livros da série, a um preço razoável, tenho de os adquirir.

The Expanse Renewed for Season 3
Syfy will continue to explore The Expanse.
The network has renewed the sci-fi drama for a 13-episode Season 3, slated to air in 2018, it was announced Thursday.
The series — starring Steven Strait (Magic City), Thomas Jane (Hung), Shohreh Aghdashloo (Grimm), Cas Anvar (The Strain) and Chad L. Coleman (The Walking Dead) — takes place across a colonized galaxy 200 years in the future, when two strangers become swept up in a vast conspiracy. It is based on the book series The Expanse, written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (under the pen name James S. A. Corey).
“The Expanse is a gorgeous, thrilling, emotional series that has quite simply raised the bar for science fiction on television,” NBCU cable entertainment president Chris McCumber said in a statement. “We, along with the fans, are looking forward to continuing the journey with our partners at Alcon Television Group and the series’ brilliant cast and crew.”
The show’s second season is currently airing Wednesdays at 10/9c on Syfy; the Season 2 finale airs March 29.

The SVOD service, which is set to air its fourth season of the sci-fi drama beginning December 13, its first as a global Amazon Original, already has handed it a fifth run.
Season 4 of The Expanse is its first as a global Amazon Original following its cancellation by Syfy. The fourth season begins a new chapter for the series with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the UN to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them.
The Hugo Aaward-winning series, based on the popular science fiction novels by James S.A. Corey, was developed and scripted by the Academy Award-nominated writing duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who executive produce Season 4 along with Naren Shankar, Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Laura Lancaster, Sharon Hall, Sean Daniel, Jason Brown, Daniel Abraham, Ty Franck and Dan Nowak. Shankar serves as showrunner for all seasons.
The Expanse Season 4 is produced by Alcon Television Group.
