Death House – a new who’s who, “Expendables” of horror in the works

Image

What would happen if every known psychopath, killer, monster –alive, undead or otherwise – were held in a secret government installation –each trapped in a virtual recreation of their natural environment? What if these creatures, so vile and dangerous that they can never be released into the public were actually having ‘scientific’ experiments conducted upon them. What if these monsters were regularly fed live victims in order to study slaying styles of said monsters? Now imagine something goes horribly wrong. Something causes the facility to fail allowing these creatures and killers to escape and run amok in this hellish facility.

Set that imagination aside, and rest uneasy as someone has already dared to dream of just such a delightfully dark insanity – this is the plot of upcoming horror flick Death House.

Written by the legendary Gunnar “Leatherface” Hansen and Harrison Smith, Death House was originally set to slash its way onto screens this October, but the recent passing of Hansen has pushed production back for a 2017 release.

Being touted as the “Expendables of Horror” this monster motion picture stars an impressive lineup – a perfect who’s who of horror! Stars like Michael Berryman, Doug Bradley, Barbara Crampton, Robert Englund, Ken Forre, Sid Haig, Kane Hodder, Camille Keaton, Bill Moseley, Tom Savini, Don Shanks, Dany Trejo and Dee Wallice have all signed on to this “area 51 of evil”.

Image

OFFICIAL Synopsis:

“The Death House is the Area 51 of Evil… a subterranean government facility that holds humanity’s worst on nine levels. Hell, Dante’s ninth level, holds the Five Evils… the “dark stars” of Death House. These individuals are so heinous they can never walk among society again. They may also be supernatural. Agents Toria Boon and Jae Novak have their own dark pasts, arriving at Death House to tour its levels and observe its denizens first-hand as well as the medical and mental experiments of Drs. Eileen Fletcher and Karen Redmane. Their depraved experiments date back to the Nazi doctors of WWII. Prison cells are virtual reality holo decks that recreate prisoner environments before they were incarcerated. A special hallucinogenic gas keeps inmates under control. The victims are homeless, bused into Death House to play literal victims while killing habits are studied. The results are sick, but only a hint of what goes on here. Hell literally breaks loose inside the facility when an EMP device detonates, killing all power and communication and… releasing every prisoner. Boon, Novak, and Fletcher are caught in a race against advancing prisoner hordes led by occultist Neo-Nazi Sieg. The monsters are freed, and they’re going down. Boon and Novak’s fight through Death House turns into a house of horrors gauntlet; their only hope of escape is descending into Hell and enlisting the help of the Five Evils. Events culminate in a violent face-to-face standoff with absolute evil… only to find that they have traveled down a rabbit hole and through a looking glass. Black is white and white is black and the definitions of good and evil no longer apply. Who are the monsters? Who will escape?”

A look at some of Bollywood’s best horror films

With 1920 London opening in cinemas this weekend, we look back at some of Bollywood’s best films in the genre.

Raat (1992)

Steering away from the bad make-up and screeching SFX of the Bollywood horror films before it, director Ram Gopal Verma’s supernatural thriller remains a cult classic. South Indian actress Revathi plays Mini, a carefree, college-going girl, who is possessed by a revenge-seeking spirit. The film’s main themes involve a haunted house and the ghost of a woman who was murdered within, with a black cat thrown in for good measure. The most chilling scene, however, remains the one where pre-possessed Mini goes for a comedy movie with her friends – she throws her head back, eyes closed, with laughter, only to find herself completely alone in an abruptly silent cinema hall.

Bhoot (2003)

Another Ram Gopal Verma classic in the same vein as Raat, Bhoot stars Urmila Matondkar, as the unwitting victim possessed by a murderous spirit; Ajay Devgn as her hapless husband; and Rekha, as the exorcist who tries to solve the mystery of the malignant entity. From gruesome murders and ghastly mirrors to little-boy and ragged-doll ghosts, the film was rendered creepier still by the award-winning Matondkar’s impeccable acting. Notably, Bhoot did not have any songs. What it did have, however, was a white-clad female form watching people sleep from the doorway of their bedroom.

Raaz (2002)

Vikram Bhatt’s first foray into horror, the film stars Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea as Sanjana and Aditya, a couple estranged over Aditya’s infidelity. They move to a mansion in Ooty, when things begin to take a sinister turn. As chandeliers rattle and brooms defy gravity, enter Malini, the scorned other woman, who, even when alive, was a bit of a sociopath – hell hath no fury, indeed.

13B: Fear Has a New Address (2009)

A general suspicion of the number 13 has caused several high-rises to skip straight from floor 12 to 14. Not so in the case of the residential building in this film, where a young couple – Manohar (R Madhavan) and Priya (Neetu Chandra) move into flat 13B. Manohar chances upon a TV soap – that airs on channel 13 – and discovers his life is unfolding along the lines of the show. The film was appreciated for its contemporary themes – our reliance on and obsession for gadgets, from lifts and phones to the television and internet – and its convincing, almost scientific climax.

Talaash (2012)

When the picky Aamir Khan, successful Kareena Kapoor and versatile Rani Mukerji agree to star in a horror film directed by Reema Kagti, it merits a watch. A tough-as-boots cop is trying to deal with his young son’s death, even while his wife approaches a medium to try to communicate with her dead child. While there are limited moments of paranormal activity, the story is full of interesting twists and turns and taps into the fascinating parascience of communicating with the dead.

See No Evil Is A Horror Remake That Actually Sounds Promising

Image

Many horror remakes are doomed by their redundancy (ahem, Cabin Fever) or the fact that they seem like obvious cash grabs, like anything made after 1995 with the words “Texas,” “chainsaw,” and “massacre” in the title. Not so See No Evil, which would remake an excellent 1971 film that’s hardly overexposed.

The original See No Evil is set in England and stars Mia Farrow (just a few years post-Rosemary’s Baby) as Sarah, a young woman who loses her sight in a terrible accident. While she’s recovering, she goes to visit relatives who are brutally murdered while she happens to be out.

The rest of the movie is basically Sarah scrambling to figure out who did the deed, while trying to prevent the cowboy boot-wearing maniac from making her his next victim. That would be scary enough, but since she’s still adjusting to being blind, it’s actually exponentially worse.

See No Evil, which was a mid-career directorial effort by Richard Fleischer (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Fantastic Voyage, Soylent Green, Red Sonja), suffered a bit in comparison to the similarly-themed Wait Until Dark, which was based on a hit play and earned Audrey Hepburn an Oscar nomination in 1968. But it’s still an undeniably scary concept that could easily be translated to a contemporary setting. Presumably, that’s what the screenwriter of the remake, Mike Scannell, will be tasked with; according to Deadline, he has a growing foothold on the thriller/horror genre, with a script called He’s Out There, also about a woman menaced by a psychopath, going into production soon.

O dia da Mãe já passou mas vai-se sempre a tempo de relembra-lo.
The 5 Best Horror Movies To Watch With Your Mom On Mother's Day.

Hey Horror Hounds it's that time of year again, the season to remember all those special ladies out there that have given us the world. They've changed our diapers, cleaned our machetes, kissed away our pain, checked under our beds and even hid the bodies. There's no doubt that Mother's hold a special place in all our hearts, let's just hope we don't have to rip out someone else's to prove it. If your lucky like me and have a Mother who loves horror then The 5 Best Horror Movies To Watch With Your Mom On Mother's Day will make the day special for you both for many years to come.

5. Mothers Day (2010)

Image

Mother's Day is a 2010 American psychological horror film directed by Darren Lynn Bousman. It is a very loosely adapted remake of Charles Kaufman's 1980 film of the same name and was written by Scott Milam and produced by Brett Ratner. The film is about three brothers who fail to rob a bank then run to their mother so she can help them get away. The brothers discover that their mother has lost her house in a foreclosure. The brothers hold the new owners and their guests hostage. When their mother arrives, she takes control of the situation.

Image

Mother's Day is a violent thriller that examines the loyalties of two very different family units. I'm sure everyone remembers Rebecca De Mornay from her sexual charged films of the 90's, Rebecca hasn't cooled off one single bit and is still just as smoldering as she was 20 years ago. Here De Mornay plays a dangerous and sexy M.I.L.F. whose finally reunited with her outlaw sons on a very bloody Mothers Day. An underrated shocker from the makers of Saw, this film takes Mother-May-I to a whole new level.

4. Inside (2007)

Image

Inside (French: À l'intérieur) is a 2007 French home invasion horror film directed by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, starring Alysson Paradis and Béatrice Dalle. It was written by co-director Bustillo, and is the first feature film from either director. It concerns the attack and home-invasion of a young pregnant woman by a mysterious stranger who seeks to take her unborn baby.

Image

Nothing makes you more nervous than a pregnant woman right? This film doesn't play around with tension that much, instead it spends the majority of its run time indulging in full on terror. I have to say (and I know I'm in the minority here) I really hated most of the ending but overall the movie is still a must see for true horror fans and it firmly proves some Mothers will do anything for their child, even survive.

3. The Devil's Rejects (2005)

Image

The Devil's Rejects is a 2005 American horror film written and directed by Rob Zombie, and the sequel to his 2003 film House of 1000 Corpses. The film is centered on the run of three members of the psychopathic antagonist family from the previous film, now seen as anti-heroic protagonists, with Sid Haig, Bill Moseley and Zombie's wife Sheri Moon Zombie reprising their roles. At the time of its release and in the years since, the film has garnered a major cult following.

Image

Mother Firefly is an interesting character in both of Rob's films about this new age nightmare family. Unfortunately, we're not given much background on her and she's ultimately dispatched by a law breaking sheriff in this film before we really get to enjoy more than a couple scenes with the maniacal matriarch. Mother Firefly does take a last stand for her unruly bunch though and more than matches machismo with legendary actor William Forsyhte. Rob has hinted recently that a 3rd installment is coming down the tracks. Given the end of this film it's likely the new film will be a prequel, which tells me we may actually find out more about Mother Firefly's past. I can't wait.

2. Psycho (1960)

Image

Psycho is a 1960 American psychological horror thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock starring Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, John Gavin, Vera Miles and Martin Balsam. The screenplay by Joseph Stefano was based on the 1959 novel of the same name by Robert Bloch. The film centers on the encounter between a secretary, Marion Crane (Leigh), who ends up at a secluded motel after embezzling money from her employer, and the motel's disturbed owner-manager, Norman Bates (Perkins), and its aftermath.

Image

Mothers aren't always a great influence on a young man, especially if your mother is Norma Bates. All though Mother Bates only makes an appearance as a corpse in the classic Hitchcock thriller, her presence looms large. Later on in the A&E television series Bates Motel we discover that Norma had a very passionate love for her troubled son, even if their relationship wasn't exactly healthy.

1. Friday the 13th (1980)

Image

Friday the 13th is a 1980 American slasher horror film directed by Sean S. Cunningham and written by Victor Miller. The film tells the story of a group of teenagers who are murdered one by one while attempting to re-open an abandoned campground, and stars Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King, Harry Crosby, Laurie Bartram, Kevin Bacon, Jeannine Taylor, Mark Nelson and Robbi Morgan. It is considered one of the first "true" slasher movies.

Image

In Friday the 13th Betsy Palmer plays out every horror fans fantasy Mother. Her willingness to seek justice for sons untimely death is something that has resonated with many people over the years, including Betsy herself. During a interview done shortly before her passing, Palmer talked about her initial hate for the film saying that upon her first viewing she considered the legendary horror staple as nothing more than trash. She goes on to explain though that over the years that changed for her. As so many fans excitedly approached her for hugs everywhere she traveled to, she began to grow a strong fondness for the film and it's followers. "They remember me as Jason's mommy, but I think maybe they see my character as the Mother many of them never had." Betsy was a wonderful woman and she will truly be loved by horror fans for generations to come.

That's all for now Horror fans. Make Sure To Follow Me Here for more great articles and breaking news from around the world of horror and beyond. Don't forget to tell us which horror films you and your mom will be watching this Mothers Day.

Filme completo oficial:

Walt, tu aqui estás a falhar em grande... :o.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081186/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mother's_ ... 80_film%29

The Iranian Horror Film ‘Under the Shadow’ Already Set For a Remake

Image

The Iranian horror film Under the Shadow is going to get an English-language remake, even though it just made its debut appearance earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival (check out our review). The London-based Wigwam Films and XYZ Films, who are handling the North American sales for the film, have announced that they are collaborating on this remake, according to Deadline. The film is directed by Babak Anvari.

Under the Shadow is, “…set in 1988 Iran, during the bloodshed of the Iran-Iraq War. Shideh and her daughter Dorsa start to believe their family home is haunted by “djinn” — evil spirits that are trying to steal their most prized belongings, including a treasured cloth doll.”

Anvari will be acting as the executive producer of the remake, which as yet has not writer or director.

Cenas neo noir bem estilizadas (filmes Gabriel, Sin City, The Spirit, Filme Noir (animação) com o tema musical do jogo Max Payne 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u116HbMOF_Y Ficava literalmente "a matar"...
